Mythic Sunship - Land Between Rivers (El Paraiso Records) Review

Art by Jakob Skott

I  know I have a lot of requests for reviews promised... but when Lord Jonas Munk, member of the luminaries Causa Sui and owner of the holy El Paraiso Records, sends you a message with a press pack of their next label release, one is obliged to wrap whatever the hell he´s doing and put everything else on hold.

Released last month by the danish label, in all formats, the newest offering by the quartet Mythic Sunship is nothing short of amazing. Land Between Rivers was captured in a wooden cabin in the north of Sealand, Denmark were the band secluded itself to solidify their unique sound furthered enhanced by the production of Mr. Munk.

Carving mind blowing jams with beautiful and intrinsic compositions, Mythic Sunship drinks from various ponds of music such as jazz, prog, kraut and space to produce mesmerizing music. With their own kind of shamanistic trance, angelic landscapes
slowly develop to heavy fuzz storms, grabing your mind and take a hold of your soul for a cosmic trip. Scintillating guitars, grounding thick bass lines and the gravitational drums coming all together in a stellar voyage!

Tracks like
High Tide or Ophidian Rising (from their previous album) are timeless classics that will bring smiles 50 years from now, trust me! I stand by the comment made about a month ago, upon hearing the first single, that this guys could claim the title as one of the most exciting acts on the European Heavy Psych scene... and this great record proves the point.
